TECHFIT/TECHFIT-PLUS Program Implementation by Teachers

For teachers who have fully satisfied requirements related to successful implementation of the TECHFIT afterschool program or TECHFIT-PLUS class at your school, you may qualify for a final stipend of up to $500. After we verify that you have met all requirements AND your paperwork is in our hands, we will process the stipend payment through Purdue channels. It typically takes about a month after we forward the paperwork to the business office. If you have any questions, please contact Alka Harriger,.Program Manager, with specific details.

Summary of requirements

  1. Successful completion of the TECHFIT summer professional development (PD) program.
  2. Successful delivery of the 30-hour minimum TECHFIT curriculum to the minimum number of students:
    1. You must have completed at least 80% of the provided curriculum.
    2. The minimum student count was determined by the number of the teachers in your school's team that completed the summer PD and was provided in your original acceptance letter, but you can contact the program manager for this information, if needed. If you completed multiple classes, the official count would include students in all classes.
      1. Only students who registered online (are in our database) may be counted.
      2. These students should have been asked to complete the pre-surveys and post-surveys.
      3. These students should have attended and actively participated in your program/class.
      4. You should have attendance records to document all of the above, including submission of the roster to TECHFIT for the researchers' records.
  3. Video of your school's TECHFIT experience this past fall submitted online, ideally by 1/30/2018, but no later than 4/30/2018:
    1. The video should be about 3-5 minutes in length
    2. If the video submitted for the video showcase satisfies all of the items below, you should simply state this in your email
    3. The video must contain your team’s name, school, and location
    4. The video must contain the team members and roles
    5. The video must contain a summary of deliverables by each TECHFIT sub-team
    6. The video must contain a Scratch animation that explains how to play the exergame and the role of technology in the exergame
    7. The video must contain a demonstration of the exergame working with technology (Teams that participated in the final showcase at Purdue are excused from this requirement, although including it will allow public visitors to the TECHFIT website to see what your students accomplished. All other teams are encouraged to use videos from their school assembly when they demonstrated their exergame to people at their school. If that is not available, you should have a subset of your students do a run-thru of the exergame and record it for the video.)
You should note that this video will automatically display on the TECHFIT website under the Video Showcase menu and the Showcase menu. The submission process will include confirmation that you have needed permissions for submitting the video.
  4. Completion of the in-service meeting in person, remotely, or via self-study.
  5. Completion of teacher surveys and related paperwork both before and after the program.

If any of the above requirements are not met, partial payment is possible after appropriate reductions are made.
